1976 The First Easter Bonnet Parade April

1976 The First Easter Bonnet Parade April

4. Soon after Christmas just 4 months after opening, we realised that we had a market for children outside school hours and in the holidays, as women very gradually began to join the work force. This concept of the working woman was very new and controversial. There was an outcry from men and women alike stating that women should be at home to look after their children. We nevertheless decided that we should extend our opening hours and weeks, and submitted a planning application. Refused!

Our very first, A Christmas concert.
Another first! This time an Easter Bonnet parade which was to become an annual event. The weather was kind so we paraded outside. There were some beautiful hats!

We hired the scout hut over the road for our final activity of the year. A nursery rhyme themed concert. July 1976

May 1976 A Cowboy and Indian Party, A nursery rhyme one and a first school trip! Just click on the small photos.
